Family photography: authentic moments, preserved
It's easy to focus on the big moments in life. But it's the everyday that reflects who we are: the look of love between parent and child, eye-rolling laughter at a joke badly told, the carefree joy of siblings at play.
These are the details that are forgotten in a flash. And that’s why they matter to me.
I like to capture moments in a natural way: the genuine emotions, authentic connections, and real personalities that define us. So, while I’ll guide and prompt you during our shoot, I'll also focus on those seconds in between. The ones when you’re relaxed, having fun, and forget the camera’s even there.
Then, once I’ve captured these moments, I’ll help you immortalise them – on paper, canvas or even metal. That way, you can preserve them, realise their value, and delight in them forever.

Family photography FAQs
Where will my photo shoot take place?
Most of my family photo shoots take place outdoors. That way, I can make best use of the natural light, and the beautiful locations in the Somerset, Devon and West Dorset area.
If you have a location in mind, we can carry out your shoot there – subject to obtaining the relevant permission if it’s not on public land. Or, if you’d like some ideas, I have plenty up my sleeve.
How should I prepare for my shoot?
To help you to get ready for the session, I’ll send you a digital pre-shoot guide. This will contain advice about clothing and, if there are young children involved, tips on how to prepare them.
How long will my shoot take?
Outdoor family shoots usually take up to two hours. This allows for a relaxed pace, time for young children to play, and a good variety of photos and locations.
What time of day will my shoot take place?
This depends on a number of factors. Most importantly, it will need to be a time that suits your family – especially if young children are involved. I’ll also need to consider the location itself, and how I can use the natural light.
We can discuss all of this when you book your shoot and, if necessary, once I’ve visited your location.
Which areas do you cover?
I usually work in Somerset, Devon and West Dorset. But I’m happy to travel further, and charge mileage at 45p a mile for shoots that take place beyond a 30-mile radius of Ilminster, Somerset.
